Day 22 was a rest day; thanks to David and Francesca, we had the full English breakfast appropriate for those doing a hard day’s trek, then remembered we weren’t. We washed our socks and hung them on the line (in glorious sunshine) just in time for the tail end of Storm Floris to give them an extra rinse. We went out for coffee, as it was nearly an hour since our giant breakfast, and then for a walk (what a novel idea) in Weston Woods, the new nature reserve which Francesca has done so much to create. The afternoon involved strenuous mental activity to help build a Lego grand piano which David had been given as a birthday present some years ago and never got round to finishing. We’re on the 14th pack of pieces and the end is almost as remote as that of Miles to Malts. Thankfully this piano has only two octaves, but each key has about 20 pieces.
Altogether a relaxing day in delightful company. Track of the Day is Bruno Mars’s The Lazy Song, which seems to cover it pretty well.
