Day 3: today the walkers went up the Evenlode valley, exploring the Stonesfield slate rock formation where the fossils discovered by William Buckland in 1824 contributed greatly to natural history and led to the coining of the word "dinosaur". Meanwhile Anne saw the real thing (well, the fossil) in the Ashmolean Museum (left of picture). It was a long hot day, but four pre-historic creatures did eventually show up at Shipton, where we say goodbye to Brian until Ayr, many weeks ahead.
Do listen to today's Track of the Day, the fabulous Eynsham Poacher - thanks to Lindsay for the local knowledge. Or if you're feeling really brave, Paul's vlog https://youtu.be/rE71-8g6IT8?si=2sYQuIuZhLDrZL0z.
