Blisters in the Thames Valley

16 June: four days of low-altitude, high-temperature training together, with the delightful company of Cathy Ward and Danny Levart.

Paul has now completed the journey from his house to Neville's as an appetiser for the big walk. Several lessons learned:
The Thames Path, flat and hot, and carrying a full pack, was much harder on the feet than the Torridon Munros. I need to get rid of my blisters and toughen up my skin. Ow!
Anything that can be left out of the pack should be. I’m hopeful that if I leave out enough of my clean clothes, the pack will walk by itself.
Apparently the Environment Agency has no compunction about (or no budget to avoid) closing bridges for a year or two and offering diversions that add miles to the journey. Check the path website in advance (but the M2M website only knows what we know).
The kindness of strangers can make your day - three cheers for the couple who ferrried us over the Thames (not the Tyne) to our hinnies, in a 60-foot barge.
